PCB Connector Glossary

This glossary explains common PCB connector terms used in Kirision product pages and RFQs. It helps buyers describe connector type, pitch, row count, mounting style, mating direction, tail length, plating and OEM/ODM requirements more clearly.

Common connector terms

Pin header connector A PCB connector with exposed pins used for board-to-board or cable-to-board connection. Common structures include single row, dual row, straight, right-angle, SMT and through-hole.
Female header connector A socket-style connector that mates with pin headers. Buyers usually confirm pitch, row count, mating height, plastic height and mounting direction.
Box header connector A shrouded header used with IDC sockets and ribbon cable assemblies. Keying direction, pitch and pin count are common RFQ details.
Ejector header connector An IDC header with latch or ejector arms for secure ribbon cable mating and easier release.
IDC socket connector An insulation-displacement connector used with ribbon cable. RFQs usually include cable direction, strain relief, pitch, row count and mating header.
Connector OEM/ODM A custom connector project reviewed by drawing or sample when standard catalog options do not match the application.
