2.54mm Pin Header Selection Guide

Choose a 2.54mm pin header by confirming pitch, row count, positions, mounting style, plastic height, tail length and plating. For production RFQs, Kirision reviews drawings, sample photos or BOM details before confirming a suitable connector structure.

Key specifications to confirm

Pitch 2.54mm is common for board-to-board, cable-to-board and industrial PCB assemblies.
Rows Single-row, dual-row and triple-row options can be reviewed by drawing.
Mounting style Vertical DIP, right-angle through-hole, vertical SMT, horizontal SMT and staggered SMT structures are typical options.
Positions Common RFQs specify 1x1P to 3x40P, depending on row structure and PCB space.
Height and tail Plastic height and terminal tail length should match PCB thickness, mating connector and assembly process.
Plating Tin or gold plating should be confirmed by application, mating cycle and cost target.

When to use straight, right-angle or SMT

Use a straight through-hole pin header when the mating direction is perpendicular to the PCB and mechanical retention is important. Use a right-angle pin header when cable or board access must exit parallel to the PCB. Use SMT when the board is designed for surface-mount production and through-hole soldering is not preferred.
